MY  DIARY

19/09/2016

In the first English class we met Maribel, one of our English teacher. First of all, she presented herself putting a power point presentation with things that defined her. Then, to break the ice, we had to present ourselves one by one, in front of the class. I think that was a great idea because it´s an easy way to know better our classmates, and also the teacher.

Finally we had a discussion about when we had to talk and when we had to be in silence. Also we discussed about methods to attract the attention of children in the class. It was an interesting and entertaining discussion.

In the second class we met Gema, the other English teacher who has introduced us to the subject. At the beginning we talked about the history of languages and how they have been our English classes when we studied in school. Most of us, we have studied with the traditional method. In the second place, Gema explained us the differences between learning and acquiring a language, differences between being bilingual, having a mother tongue, a second language, an acquired language, etc. It has been a very useful class because I had no idea about that differences. In my case, I speak 3 languages, but I didn´t know which was the acquired one or which was the learned one.

21/09/2016

In this class some of my classmates presented themselves showing photos and exposing some important aspects of their lives. We also read the Real Decree and discussed about it. I´ve learned to manage my time to read a lot in a short period of time because we had to read the Decree in class with a lot of noise and in a very few time.

22/09/2016

Today we talked about the traditional method in teaching languages. We discussed in pairs about it and then we have shared with the whole class the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional method. Finally, at the end of the class the teacher talked us about the new methods of teaching languages. It's been a very productive class.

26/09/2016

This was a different class. It has been welcoming class, because we've sat around Maribel and talked about advantages and disadvantages of public and private colleges, about LOMCE and about the education in Spain in general. Maribel it is very funny and she knows how to attract our attention.

27/09/2016

In this class, Gema exposed us different teaching methods. Some of the methods are very interesting and I think that we can use it with our future students. I have to say that Gema explained very well all of the methods and it will be easy for me to remember all that methods thanks to her.

03/10/2016

Today we continued working in groups in the activity 1.3. This activity was very easy because we had to answer to 2 short questions about the teacher´s role and the methodological guidelines.

29/09/2016

Today, we worked in groups on the methods. We chose the Total Physical Response Method (TPR). We had to do some activities in which we had to use this method and also put advantages and disadvantages of the TPR method. A very interesting and different method is the silent method. It is a very peculiar method that it might work but I personally would not use it.

04/10/2016

In this class we started the Unit 5. At the beginning we did a brainstorming about the Discourse competence in the Primary Education classroom: storytelling, limericks, rhymes, songs, chants, games, etc. And the first one were Limericks. What are Limericks? What are they good for? Also we had to do in groups a limerick.

05/10/2016

Today Maribel explained us the Common European framework of reference and talked us about the European Portfolio and the Language Passport. She explained us how to do the E-pel activity. The Common European framework describes in a comprehensive way what language learners have to learn to do in order to use a language for communication and what knowledge and skills they have to develop so as to be able to act effectively. It was exciting to do this activity but I have to recognize that it took me a lot of time to do this task.

06/10/2016

Today we have corrected our limericks and discussed about how we can use the limericks with our future students. Also we talked about storytelling.

10/10/2016

We didn´t had class because Maribel had to go to Romania to a conference about Education, so we resolved doubts in the Forum.

11/10/2016

Today we talked about rhymes. We had to do in groups a rhyme and also we had to think about what activities we could do using rhymes. One of the method which we can use rhymes is suggestopedia.

13/10/2016

Today we have seen songs and jazz chants. These are specific for rhythm and intonation.  We also, in groups have invented our own chant. We have seen a lot of examples of chants.

On 25th and 27th we had to expose in groups in front of the class the presentations about Teaching English to children.

On 26th and 27th of October we went to CLIL courses. It was a very exciting experience. I have learned a lot of interesting things and I find out what CLIL means: Content and Language Integrated Learning.

I liked very much this subject because I have deepened in my English Learning. The teachers are really professionals and they have helped me to learn better and also they are very funny and they have made this subject like me more.
